the project SEIL – Salima between Invention and Liberty
SEIL
was initiated by Patrimoine Sans Frontières (Heritage Without Borders,
French non-governmental organization), with l’Institut Français
d’Architecture (IFA), the Association for the protection of sites and ancient
houses in Lebanon (APSAD) and the International Alliance of the Lebanese
for Education and Solidarity (AILES). The architecture workshop 2003
focused on the fountains. Four teams were formed, each working on a fountain:
a team directed by Habib Debs (urban planner, Urbi), a second, directed
by Sophie Skaff (designer, Table Shaves) and two teams directed by Atelier
de Recherche ALBA. SEIL official website: http://www.apsad.org/psf.htm |

water points - Atelier de Recherche ALBA proposals
We
are interested in showing the dispersion of the fountains, their differences,
the unpredictable proximities they can reveal, the narrations they can
carry, the singularities of their daily practices. While a water point
defines a territory and usually constitutes a conflict source, the network
drawn by the fountains expresses the ubiquity of water, first condition
for it to be shared. Our suggestion formulates itself in the form
of a dilemma: how, at once, appropriate a fountain and to put it in common? |
